Marina di Vecchiano

Vecchiano is a municipality at the foot of the northern slopes of Monte Pisano, gateway to the Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli. Its territory stretches from the mountain slopes to the sea, through pine forests, wetlands and wild beaches.

Marina di Vecchiano

Marina di Vecchiano is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Tuscan coast: a long stretch of golden sand protected by a dense pine forest, part of the Natural Park. The approach through the pine forest is a unique experience, with shaded paths that suddenly open onto the expanse of the sea.

Unlike more touristy beaches, Marina di Vecchiano retains a wild, natural character, perfect for those seeking tranquillity, swimming in crystal-clear waters and sunset walks along the shore.

Lake Massaciuccoli

Lake Massaciuccoli, on the border between Vecchiano and Massarosa, is a nature reserve of great environmental value. Its shores host rich birdlife and marshland vegetation reminiscent of landscapes from another era. It can be explored by boat, canoe or on foot along the LIPU reserve trails.

On the shores of the lake you will also find the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago, where every summer the great composer's operas are performed in an open-air theatre overlooking the water — a truly unique cultural experience.

The Serchio River

The Serchio is the third largest river in Tuscany and flows through the Vecchiano territory before reaching the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its banks offer landscapes of rare beauty: tree-lined embankments, cultivated fields and rich riparian vegetation home to herons, kingfishers and other protected species.

Along the Serchio run cycle paths and trails perfect for walks and jogging. The river is also popular with canoe and kayak enthusiasts, who paddle from Lucca to the sea enjoying a landscape that constantly changes, from the plain to the coastal pine forest.
